There are plenty of biographies of Shivaji Maharaj available. But nearly all authors of these biographies have written less on the defence techniques of Shivaji and the geographic reference are also absent. Hence, author has depicted a few selective wars from the life of Shivaji Maharaj referring to the conditions prevailing at that time, political tact’s & pressures, geographical conditions and details of the incidents are mentioned.
In selection, author has taken only those campaign on which sufficient information is available and this description is kept quite reality based. Each chapter in the book is mentioned with the relative linking with the period which seems a continuous story along with the referential letters relating to incidents.
These campaigns are presented from the 17th century with a new outlook, giving the due importance to geographical details also. This book is distributed ianto 3 parts as in first section defence tact’s used in ancient India, guerilla tact’s, thoughts of Shivaji Maharaj are mentioned.
Second section consists of details of 14 war campaigns including the map, geographical positions and effects of these wars.
Details in third section are work by Shivaji Maharaj, leadership qualities, spy network, trade policies, corporation etc. Comparison of the above factors is done with the ancient kingdoms and rules which proves Shivaji Maharaj a great man – ‘Mahamanav’. Warfare tactics, art of defence and general administration are the topics which are mentioned in detail by the author.
