India gained independence on 15 August 1947. However, some princely states, such as Hyderabad, were not ready to merge with the Indian Union. Some freedom fighters fought against injustice of Nizam and Razakar. Some lost their lives and others were permanently disabled. This painful history remained ignored. Swatantryasangramatil Durlakshit Itihas book is an attempt by author Dr. Shivaji Mhaske to bring this ignored history of the freedom struggle to the world.

भारताला १५ ऑगस्ट १९४७ रोजी स्वातंत्र्य प्राप्त झाले. मात्र काही संस्थानिक जसे हैद्राबाद हे संस्थान भारतीय संघराज्यात विलीन होण्यास तयार नव्हते. मराठवाड्यातील अनेक गावात निजामाच्या रझाकारांनी अक्षरशः हैदोस घातला होता. या अन्यायाच्या विरुद्ध काही स्वातंत्र्य सैनिकांनी लढा उभा केला. यामध्ये काहींना आपले प्राण गमवावे लागले तर काहींना कायमचे अपंगत्व आले. हा वेदनादायी इतिहास दुर्लक्षित राहिला. हा स्वातंत्र्यसंग्रामातील दुर्लक्षित इतिहास जगासमोर आणण्याचा हा एक प्रयत्न लेखक डॉ. शिवाजी म्हस्के यांनी केलेला आहे.
