There have been various vital proofs revealing the history of different places. Many places on the forts in Maharashtra are also considered as the cultural heritage. Author Anand Palande has previously covered the forts in Maharashtra in his book Dongaryatra.
Explaining the historical importance of forts, author lists out the points on the forts as fortification, bastions, palatial structures, temples, water cisterns, cannons, memorials. Each forts has its own history with the pleasant and unpleasant incidents occurred on it. Many of these structures are either non-existent or in a dilapidated state. Author has taken efforts to take into the account, various points and structures on forts and share them with us through the current book.
Author Anand Palande describes 288 forts of Maharashtra, 6 forts from Gujarat and 1 from Karnataka with 295 forts in all along with their outline maps and primary information.
