Prachin Bharatiya Nanakshastra book is on the numismatics from ancient India. Book starts with the origin or the use of coins, the importance of coins in various ages/eras i.e. Babylonian, Akhmonia, Greek, Vedic period; the importance of coins relating to political, geographical, traditional. Description, features (language, carvings) of various types of coins are mentioned in this book namely Aahat coins, foreign coins, coins from Satvahan era, coins of Kushana dynasty, coins of Gupta dynasty and coins of Southern India. Moreover the logic behind preparing coins and various carvings on the coins are also listed in the book along with illustrations of coins of varied period, written by M. K. Dhawalikar.
