Nana Phadnis – नाना फडणीस

Balaji Janardan Bhanu i.e. Nana Phadnis was effectively a competent and diplomatic administrator in the last generation of Maratha history. He led the political brigade of Marathas for continuous 25 years. The book is not a biography of Nana Phadnis, but after safe return from the bottle of Panipat, how he managed to settle down the Marathas administration for Swaraj. specifically after death of Madhavrao Peshwa senior, the greatness of Marathas to be convinced to the insincere and hypocrite sardars was a tough task to be handled intelligently are listed out. How he had relations with the Chhatrapati and Peshwa and other famous are referred by the author Madhukar Kulkarni while compiling the book.
The book is in five parts where, first 2 parts brief about the biographical aspects of Nana Phadnis and his work and performance is covered in rest 3 parts. Nana Phadnis came in contact of 3 Peshwa and the Satbhai agreement is covered in detail, which is considered as an important event in Peshwa era. He was considered as an excellent administrator and also various topics like postal services, revenue and spying services are covered in the fourth part
The last part contains of the acquaintance of Nana Phadnis with Nizam, Hyder and Tipu Sultan and his foreign policies.
