Description

The progress of the Marathas and British was of same period, as Shivaji Maharaj defeated Afzalkhan during 1660 and in 1666, the East India company captured the island of Mumbai at the same time. The condition of Maharashtra before the British rule is also discussed that they came for purpose of trade and later started dominating the country.
In reality, the Peshwas ruled on more than half of India, but later it was all in vain. First part consists of the background of both the kingdoms, Marathas and the British. In the later part of book, reasons of the downfall of the Marathas are discussed, along with the administration of the Marathas.
