Radha Madhavvilas Champu – राधामाधव विलास चम्पू

A composition made of both prose and poetry is referred as Champu. This poetry is composed by Poet Jayram Pindye during year 1653 to 1658. Even though, it is named as Radha Madhavvilas Champu. It is a detailed character description of Shivaji Maharaj. It is clear that this poetry is narrated by the poet himself to Shahaji Maharaj in person. Hence this book has utmost important as a historic novel. One third part is in Sanskrit language and the other is the description of Shahaji. Poet Jayram Pindye had been acquainted with Shahaji for long and has compiled some instances in Shahajis darbar. The book has a detailed preface by V. K. Rajwade of around 200 pages. He also covers the details in Shahajis life history with more related historic research details like Shivaji, Jijabai, Political situation, some battles and other castes in Maharashtra.

गद्य आणि कविता या दोहोंपासून बनलेल्या रचनाला चंपू असे संबोधले जाते. १६५३ ते १६५८ या काळात कवी जयराम पिंड्ये यांनी ही कविता रचली आहे. असे असले तरी याला राधा माधवविलास चंपू असे नाव देण्यात आले आहे. हे शिवाजी महाराजांचे विस्तृत वर्णन आहे. ही कविता कवींने शहाजी महाराजांना वैयक्तिकरित्या वर्णन केली आहे. म्हणूनच या पुस्तकाला अत्यंत महत्त्व आहे. एक तृतीय भाग संस्कृत भाषेत आहे आणि दुसरा शहाजींचे वर्णन आहे. कवी जयराम पिंड्ये शहाजींशी फार पूर्वीपासून परिचित होते. या पुस्तकाला सुमारे 200 पानांची वि. का. राजवाडे यांचे विस्तृत प्रस्तावना आहे. शिवाजी, जिजाबाई, राजकीय परिस्थिती, महाराष्ट्रातील काही लढाया यासारख्या ऐतिहासिक संशोधनांसह त्यांनी शहाजींच्या जीवनाच्या इतिहासाचा तपशील दिलेला आहे.
