Gangecha Rakhandar – गंगेचा राखणदार

Gangecha Rakhandar is a historical novel written from a French perspective by a scholar who lived in Pune for many years, focusing on events in North India during the 18th century. The novel’s protagonist is the French commander Perron—whose name is familiar to Pune residents through the ‘Perugate’ locality—and the heroine is Madhu, a beautiful woman from North India. The tragic story of the Emperor of Delhi also unfolds within the narrative. This Marathi translation is by Umashashi Bhalerao, based on the original novel by Guy Deleury.
