Coastal Process and Landforms

Description

This book examines the Konkan coast of Maharashtra as a distinct and dynamic geomorphological system produced in a rocky terrain. It is based heavily on the case studies from various locations on this coast, where concepts of geomorphology are introduced. This book provides a framework from which one can understand and appreciate the nature of processes and landforms on West coast of India in general and rocky coast in particular. In addition, the sea level scenario on Konkan coast and the evidences of earlier sea levels in the form of fossil sedimentary deposits are discussed. The ideas and concepts discussed in the book are derived from the field observations, measurements and views and experiences of local people and available records.
